Battle of the Books
2023 Program Information
About
We are thrilled to unveil the inaugural Battle of the Books competition here at Eisenhower Elementary. Battle of the Books is a national reading incentive program and Eisenhower students in grades 3-5 are invited to challenge themselves and join in this fun and engaging event! Interested students will form teams consisting of 4 to 6 members. Each team will take on the responsibility of reading 20 books, and will then participate in an exciting Jeopardy-style game, vying for the prestigious title of Battle of the Books champions.
Whether students have a team already, or need help forming a team, all 3rd-5th graders interested in competing in the 2023 Battle of the Books should see Principal Greenfield at lunch recess. He will help students form teams consisting of 4-6 kids each and sign up for the competition daily from September 11-16.
Books listed under the Reading Lists tab will be used in our 2023 Battle of the Books competition. There is no cost to participate in this program and all Battle of the Books are available in the Eisenhower School Library.
Competition Starts October 23, 2023.

How "Battles" Work
The tournament starts with each team playing 2 games to get a feel for the types of questions being asked and how answers should be given. There are 24 questions in each game worth 2 points a piece. An example of a question might be: In what book did students participate in a Quidditch game? Teams earn 1 point for providing the title of the book and a second point for naming the author.
After the initial 2 games are played, teams are ranked and play in the elimination rounds, meaning their team wins they move on, their team loses they are done for this year's competition.
Championship Prize and Recognition
The winning team has a chance to win gift cards sponsored by our PTA and the title of Eisenhower Elementary BOB Champions.
